Amigaguide is a hypertext document file format similar to Texinfo designed for the Amiga, files are stored in ASCII so it is possible to read and edit a file without the need for special software. Since Workbench 2.1 (1992[1]) an Amigaguide viewer has been included as standard on the Amiga, users with earlier versions of Workbench could view the files by downloading [ftp://uk.aminet.net/pub/aminet/text/hyper/aguide34.lha AmigaGuide 34]. Although the Amigaguide format is almost solely used for documenting Amiga programs, viewers are available for several platforms:
