It's not known if this was a mistake, or if Alec was just long-lived, considering that Hareck I died about 500 years before his descendant ruled the empire.

He has the ability to put large groups of people in absolute sensory deprivation all at once, which makes him much creepier than Jane, since extended periods of total sensory deprivation can be quite psychologically disruptive, and it would be logical to assume this would be worse for a creature accustomed to such intense, reliable senses as the vampires are supposed to have. Unfortunately, Meyer doesn't know enough about anything to write that kind of scene realistically. Even more unfortunately, none of the cool powers work on Bella, so we wouldn't get to see it anyway. He and his sister are the Volturi's primary offensive weapons, which is why in Breaking Dawn the Volturi break off in the face of Bella's special snowflake powers.

- He is one of the 3 werewolf blood warriors that appeared on Princess Carnage to kill Hime. He goes around bare chested and has a scar on his face as well as a large scar slanting across his torso. He mocked Riza for being a half-breed but was defeated by her (he would have been killed if he wasn't a blood warrior). Hime locked him and the remaining 2 werewolves in basement and shot them repeatedly with silver bullets until the effect of their blood ran out.

Aro was now forced to change them while they were still young. They are now the most valued members of the guard, due to them being extremely powerful. It is said, that they are probably a pair of the most, if not the most powerful vampires in the world, and have the ability to take down vampires twice their size.
