- The Nighthawk is an escort fighter craft. Once detailed scans of the Protoss Phoenix were acquired, the Vaul quickly began creating countermeasures against the fighter. One weakness found in the designs was that the new starfighter had very little firepower in comparison to the Terran Viking.
