This is the league's 49th season dating back to the previous names of Maritime Hockey League and prior to that Metro Valley Junior Hockey League dating back to the 1967-68 season. The league has gone back and forth over the last few seasons with the MJAHL and MHL monikers. The league renamed its divisions to the from the Eastlink and Roger Meek to the Eastlink North and Eastlink South divisions respectively. The league featured the same 12 teams playing 48 games each with the regular season starting on September 10, 2015 and ending on March 13, 2016. The league was involved in the Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge which will be held in Cornwall, Ontario November 16-18. Miramichi Timberwolves player Matt Cusson was indefinitley suspended by the league for conduct detrimental to the league for actions in a game November 5th at the Pictou County Wellness Centre rink, where after being ejected from the game he flung his stick into the crowd where it narrowly missed two spectators that were watching the game from wheelchairs due to two other spectators shielding the wheelchair bound spectators including a 15 boy disabled by Muscular Dystrophy. After the game the Timberwolves management offfered an apology to the family and offered then a trip to the Crushers next game in Miramichi for a face-to-face apology.Link to Chronicle-Herald newsarticle on incident. The suspension is now 3 games according to the league website.
