Daniel Libeskind (Łódź, 12 may 1946) is a Polish-Jewish architect, who in 1965 became naturalized American citizen. He is the son of Holocaustsurvivors. He designed, among other things, the Jüdisches Museum Berlin. He also designed for the Royal Ontario Museum the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, which was completed in 2007. His design for the 1 World Trade Center was chosen as a replacement for the World Trade Center in New York. In the Polish capital Warsaw he designed the Zlota-44, a skyscraper of 192 m.

In Libeskind in 1990 the Netherlands Groningen City marker plan designed. His own contribution (one of ten) was Open Book on the A7 motorway in Groningen. Libeskind's project is a Land art : ' Polder country Garden of Love and Fire ' (1992-1997) in Almere. This landscape work belongs to the Collection of the municipality of Almere, Almere and operated by Museum De Paviljoens. Other landscape work in Flevoland are: The Green Cathedral (1978-1996) by Marinus Boezem in Almere, Exposure (2010) by Antony Gormley and Observatory (1971-1977) by Robert Morris in Lelystad, Earthsea (1982) by Piet Slegers in between Lelystad and Almere in the polder and Sea Level (1989-1996) by Richard Serra in Zeewolde. On March 7, 2010 got Libeskind, in the 50th so-called ' Woche der Deutscher Koordinierungsrat Brüderlichkeit ', proclaimed by the ' der Gesellschaften für Christlich-Jüdische Zusammenarbeit ', awarded the Buber-Rosenzweig-Medal .
