When Clare Brody's fiancee went missing, she hired private investigator Alec Swan to find him. Asking questions, Swan slowly began piecing the puzzle together, at which point he was attacked by the reptilian Sportsman Marley, a fight Swan won by tucking an explosive into Marley's spandex shirt.
Continuing his investigation, he was then attacked and captured by members Davenport and Mosely. Taken back to the Sportsmen's headquarters, he was shown a captive Clare Brody. Informing him that they would then hunt Swan for sport, and would feast on Brody if he attempted to escape, the Sportsmen released Swan onto their grounds and began hunting him.
Armed with only what he could find on the grounds, Swan began picking the Sportsmen off, killing Andre, Mace, and Lonny in various ways before making his way to the Sportsmen's cars. Realizing the discovery was too easy , Swan decided to try to escape in one anyway. After the car was started, it exploded, seemingly killing Swan.
Heading back to their estate, the Sportsmen prepared to feast on Brody, only for a weakened, but still alive Swan to show up and begin fighting back. At that same moment, the Moon-based Entity, acting through Amber Hunt, began affecting humans across the US. Several of the Sportsmen fled the area, driven mad by the call, and Davenport, driven crazy by the light, was defeated and killed by Swan, who then freed Brody.
Mosely later hired the killed Rafferty as part of a plot.
