  • The 2020 Anderson tornado was a violent, long-tracked multiple-vortex EF4 tornado which impacted central Indiana in the late afternoon and early evening of April 7, 2020. It was the single most powerful tornado of the April 7 outbreak and the first of seven EF4 tornadoes to occur in the year 2020. The tornado was responsible for 21 fatalities, making it the deadliest of the year 2020. It was particularly notable for having a "trident" structure: a large central vortex flanked by two smaller vortices in which the highest winds occurred. Unusually, it followed a northwestward track for the duration of its life cycle.
