The Finnish War was a brief conflict between Sweden and Russia over the territory that is modern-day Finland in the spring of 1809. After a series of one-sided defeats, Sweden was forced to hand the Finnish territory to Russia, who then incorporated the land as an autonomous duchy in the Russian Empire.
