  • Atmacites, also known as Soul Gems or Soul Stones, are a game element originally introduced in Random Kingdom VXR, but since canonized in all of Random Kingdom to provide a part of the standardization of magic. They are the essence of the souls of felled foes, condensed into magical crystals which usually take the shape of spherical gems. Atmacites are a form of Thaumacite and as such can be inserted into armor and weapons (which needs to be 'socketed' to accomodate the gems) and will convey various effects to the person wearing them, such as status bonuses, elemental affinity or even access to certain spells and skills. While high-level casters can summon many entities without the use of Atmacite, including such entities as are never available to be summoned through Atmacite, many entities cannot be summoned without Atmacite and Atmacite allows lower-level casters to perform summoning feats they would otherwise not be able to perform. Like other forms of thaumacite, the effects of thaumacite upon their wearer and user are not necessarily temporary, but can permanently alter him or her, often in ways not suggested, or not equalled in their extent, by the temporary effect. Atmacites can be purchased from Atmacite Synthesists in major towns in the game. These NPCs can condense a creature's essence into atmacite, but will require a certain personal 'trophy' item from that being in order to extract its energy. Once this trophy item has been turned in, the assorted Atmacite will become available to purchase from the synthesist. Atmacites can be purchased an unlimited number of times (provided the player has the financial means for it) once available in the synthesist shop. Not all synthesists sell the same Atmacites and once a trophy item has been turned in, the Atmacite will become available with that NPC only, not globally. Some Atmacites are also given as reward for quests or found in other locations of the game.
