The Democratic Union (Span: Unión Demócratica) is a Spanish political party often abbreviated with the initials UD. It is a center-right liberal conservative and Christian democratic party currently in power in the Spanish Parliament since 2010 with Mariano Rajoy as Prime Minister and holds the formally bipartisan Presidency with former member Antonio Banderas as President. Since the fall of Communism in 1985-86, the UD has been Spain's dominant political party, most notably under Adolfo Suárez, who served as Prime Minister from 1986 until 1996.
