abstract
  • The McCall was a late-24th century McCall-class Federation shuttlecraft attached to the USS Enterprise-E. McCall was docked in the shuttlebay when the Argo was on approach to the Sovereign-class starship. (ST calendar: Ships of the Line 2011) John Eaves planned to name this shuttle after the United States Air Force General William J. Fox. An airfield located in Lancaster, California is named after this general. However, as Eaves worked on the painting, he received news that his friend Robert McCall had died. Robert McCall had worked as an artist on the film 2001: A Space Odyssey and was hired by the Smithsonian to create murals which illustrated the history of NASA. After learning about his friend's death, Eaves placed a call to Doug Drexler asking him if the shuttle's name could be changed. Drexler gave his consent and the name was changed. Eaves described this shuttlecraft as a fighter that was assigned to the Enterprise soon after the events in Star Trek: Nemesis. http://johneaves.wordpress.com/2011/05/05/the-enterprise-e-shuttle-bay-from-the-sotl-calendar/
