The W-Wing Starfighter was a modified version of the X-Wing starfighter used by the Wolf Raiders of Balgus Star. Sometime about 2 BBY, the Wolf Raiders hijacked a considerable number of partially-completed X-Wings being shipped to the Rebel Alliance. Taking the ships for their own, the Wolf Raiders completed assembly of the ships to their own customized specifications. Fitting them with new wing components and high-powered beam cannons, the resultant ships were dubbed "W-Wings" by their pilots due to their wing configuration.

| - The W-Wing Starfighter was a modified version of the X-Wing starfighter used by the Wolf Raiders of Balgus Star. The W-Wing would be the standard fighter of the Wolf Raiders for the next eleven years, serving as their main attack ship in their raids. Due to its similarity to its parent design, the W-Wing had an additional propaganda benefit for the Empire. As the X-Wing had become a symbol of the Rebellion, the appearance of a similar ship attacking civilian communities caused considerable confusion as to the Rebellion's motives and methods. Most of the W-Wings were destroyed in the Rebel attack on Balgus Star in 7 ABY. None are believed to remain.
