Mike Watson was a Navy Captain at the Pentagon whose wife and young daughter ended up being kidnapped and held for ransom with a simple message being delivered to Watson: if he didn't send $2 million to an offshore accounts before 18:00, then both his wife and daughter would end up dead. He was also informed that they would also die if he attempted to even contact anyone. Luckily, though, Watson slipped a note to his secretary before telling her to take the rest of the day off. Further research from Abby and McGee discovered that the money originated back to DC.

He was also informed that they would also die if he attempted to even contact anyone. Luckily, though, Watson slipped a note to his secretary before telling her to take the rest of the day off. Wilkes immediately contacted NCIS who were instantly on the case. Agents Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Anthony DiNozzo headed into his office, Gibbs disguised as a Gunnery and Tony disguised as a Chinese delivery man who managed to get hidden cameras in the office. With Captain Watson's insistence with Gibbs secretly aiding him, the kidnapper freed Sandy. After that had happened, Gibbs dispatched Caitlin Todd and DiNozzo to go pick her up and once they did, the two brought her back to NCIS HQ where Donald Mallard treated her. Using her hearing, Sandy managed to pinpoint the location of the kidnapper which had Gibbs, Tony and Kate racing through a series of railcars and just as Grayson was going to kill Julie Watson, Timothy McGee distracted Grayson by stating that the FBI had him surrounded. Grayson took the bait and began making demands, claiming he knew how the FBI worked but he was in for a shock when Gibbs emerged from a trap door, his weapon trained on Grayson before stating, "We're not the FBI, dirtbag". After saving Julie, Kate, Tony and Gibbs watched as the Watsons were reunited with Captain Watson stating to his daughter that everything was going to be alright from now. Further research from Abby and McGee discovered that the money originated back to DC. Prompted on by that information, Gibbs, Kate and Tony ambushed Watson outside the Treasury Office with Gibbs angrily confronting him. Enraged, Gibbs shoved the Captain against the wall. Watson simply insisted that they needed the money and that no-one was supposed to be hurt, causing a furious Gibbs to state, "Don't you dare tell me that there's a reason for you throwing away what you had." It is unknown what happened to him after he was arrested although it is presumed he was arrested for the kidnapping and his wife divorced him and took custody of Sandy.
