5 Days of War is a 1978 American war novel written by American author James Wilder, set during the 1967 Hormuz War and takes the shoes of an naval officer and combat pilot named William Lennox and the famous 19th Squadron. The story takes begins in September 1967 at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, and goes forward in time to October 7, when the 19th Squadron began its operations against the Persian navy in the Strait of Hormuz. The 5 Days of War is consider one of the few war novels to fully detail the battle over the Strait of Hormuz and received the Colby Award.
