Glorious as it is, Jinian doesn't appear to be a zanpakutō, as it would appear Mao Dun isn't a shinigami either, but it does contain unusual abilities. Maybe the foremost characteristic of the sword is it inability to harm. It is not that the blade is too dull to cut, but on contact it will simply phase through any obstacle. This nature is in itself quite ironic for a sword, being a tool generally crafted to maim or kill. * Amnesia Induction: Although the blade cannot harm anything, it will instead wipe out all traces that connect Mao Dun with the target. In case of a living being, this will include all memories of Mao Dun, going as far as creating false memories that fill in the blank spots where Mao Dun was. In case of an object, it will remove all visible marks Mao Dun left. Even if Mao Dun would have completely destroyed the object, it will appear as untouched to anyone once it has been cut.
