The Kangaroo Island was a former independent nation that occupied a small island off the coast of the former J Andres colony, Porto Pacis. The island was invaded on July 3, 1998 and occupied until January 7, 2000 by the J Andres Federation of Industry. The Island had 15,000 inhabitants and nearly 5,000 where killed during the occupation. The J Andres military failed at re-taking the island but eventually the occupation ended when the Federation Executives were about to be tried on thousands of counts of manslaughter. The territory then changed hands and came into the possession of the Promised Land. About 8,000 of the remaining population moved to J Andres where they live as dual citizens. President and later King Naeem Al Kaled maintains his mainly figurehead post as a government-in-exile
