Nicole Graham, a grad student who was seemingly the first victim of a Mayan mummy's curse, in fact died in a far more prosaic manner, killed by her jealous would-be lover, Stanford Raynes. Nicole's remains were mummified by Raynes, and only when, back in New York, Will Medina tried to sell them as a genuine Mayan artifact did that same darkness stir again. Raynes found out that Medina was suspicious of the mummy's origin and dropped a gargoyle on him outside his apartment, killing him.
