| - Amoebo is a current Offbeats member and former Acolyte.
Early history
Earl Nolan was born in Salem, Oregon to an average family. However at the age of 15 his skin started to ooze a sticky blue liquid. Doctors were baffled as there was no record of this ever happening. Shortly afterward his skin was completely covered and it started turning clear so that you could see Earl's organs. Then his lesser organs and bone started to dissolve and his major organs fused together to form a large nucleus like organ. He could now "see" using tremor sense . Frightened by his appearance the people of Salem drove him away where he was eventually discovered by Magneto's Acolytes.
The Amoebalyte
After joining the Acolytes, Amoebo started to learn to read Braille and to use sign language. His amoeba abilities were very useful to the Acolytes as he was practically indestructible due to his malleable gelatinous skin, his ability to split effectively cloning himself and his ability to grow to incredible heights. His only weaknesses were extreme heat, extreme cold and having his nucleus pulled out of his "body" as it would cause his gelatinous form to fall apart into a harmless puddle of goo. During his stay with the Acolytes, Amoebo overcame his hatred of humans and joined up with a group of other Acolytes who were planning to split off from the rest of them.
An offbeat
Shortly after joining the Offbeats the team leader Dragonfly decided that to gain credibility as a team they should attack a superhero team, the Avengers. Amoebo, Sparky and Demona all realized the stupidity of this plan but they were ignored . He manage to knock out Captain America, Giant Man and Thor by enveloping them until they passed out from lack of oxygen but was defeated when Iron man managed to knock the nucleus right out of his head causing his body to collapse. While like the rest of the team he was sent to the Vault he was placed into an airtight container to minimize his chances of escaping. Like the rest of his team-mates he managed to escape and decided to pursue a career as a heroic team. When Muscle and Rabble-rousers tried to forcefully join the team, Amoebo successfully captured her by enveloping her while she was distracted.
