In 1825, the Swiss man Philippe Suchard founds his own chocolate factory in the city of Neuchatel, in Neuenburg. In this factory, the chocolate was handmade (artisanal chocolate). Since he was a born innovator, Philippe started to develop, in 1826, a new contraption which could improve the mixing of the cacao with the powdered sugar.
