The inside-outside room was part of the House of Organa's private quarters in the Aldera Royal Palace. One entire wall of that room was made of transparisteel doors that provided a full view of the family's private gardens. In the early days of the Imperial Period, the members of the royal family would often gather in that room in the mornings and evenings to watch the sunset. The name "inside-outside room" had been invented by Leia Organa, Crown Princess of Alderaan, when she was a child.
