The Kashi Mer Remnant was the remnant of not only the Kashi Mer Dynasty but also was the carrier the legacy of the Kashi Mer culture itself. In the final days of the original Dynasty, the Matriai, Cho Khinos Otamin, mobilized the Royale Macheteros along with his royal navy to the Exodo system where they usurped control of the Meridian sector from the Grissmath Dynasty, installing the Grissmath as their puppet governors and servants. Before Cho Khinos himself could leave the Kashi system, its' main star went Nova, obliterating the main Kashi Mer Dynasty. The Remnant, headquartered deep in the Meridian sector on Exodo II, continued the Kashi Mer tradition for milennia as it slowly built itself back into the powerhouse that the Dynasty originally was.

The Remnant, headquartered deep in the Meridian sector on Exodo II, continued the Kashi Mer tradition for milennia as it slowly built itself back into the powerhouse that the Dynasty originally was. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Remnant traded vital information on the New Republic to the Vong in exchange for them restoring the Kashi system through the use of an enormous Dovin Basal reverse-engineered with a Worldship. With the artificial primary Star in place as well as an army of Yammosks at their disposal, the Remnant restored the damage of the original supernova and restored Kashi to its' former glory through Terraforming. Following the successful Terraforming of Kashi and its' surrounding planets, the Kashi Remnant returned to the Kashi system (while maintaining their Empire in the Exodo system) and continued to rebuild. Despite their underhanded methods, their undertakings with the Vong eventually inspired the Ossus Project.
