Mark James Mayhew (1871-1944) was a businessman and local politician. Born in Battersea, he was educated at Harrow School before entering his father's milling business. In 1894 he became the proprietor of the business which became Mark Mayhew Limited. He held a commission in the part-time Middlesex Imperial Yeomanry. He was an early enthusiast for motor vehicles, and in 1903 he was promoted to lieutenant-colonel commanding the newly-formed Motor Volunteer Corps. During the First World War he served in the Army Service Corps.

In 1894 he became the proprietor of the business which became Mark Mayhew Limited. In 1897 he was elected to the London School Board, as one of the representatives of Lambeth West. On 25 November 1899 he was elected to the London County Council as a Progressive Party councillor for Wandsworth at a by-election. He stood down from the school board at the 1900 election, and was re-elected to the county council in 1901. He lost his council seat in 1904. He held a commission in the part-time Middlesex Imperial Yeomanry. He was an early enthusiast for motor vehicles, and in 1903 he was promoted to lieutenant-colonel commanding the newly-formed Motor Volunteer Corps. During the First World War he served in the Army Service Corps.
