Hurricane Alberto was a weak Category 2 hurricane which formed as a low pressure system on June 2, 1982. The system travelled across the Atlantic and transitioned into a depression with 25 mph (40 km/h) winds. No wind shear caused it to intensify into a storm, thus earning its name Alberto. A tropical storm warning was issued for most of Florida and Jamaica, but was postponed as the storm moved into the Gulf of Mexico. The storm became a hurricane on June 4 and impacted Mexico with gusts of 115 mph (185 km/h). It dissipated 4 days later, due to interaction with land.
