The Thropp Family is a prominent family of Munchkinland, and is the most powerful of the dozen Eminences of Munchkinland. From their seat at Colwen Grounds in Nest Hardings, the Eminent Thropp is the sole ruler of Munckinland. Her Eminence Nessarose Thropp led the Munchkinlanders' succession from loyal Oz. Thropps are titled by their order in the line of succession to the Eminence, which is matrillineal. Thus, Elphaba Thropp at birth was "Elphaba of Rush Margins, Thropp Third Descending". Despite most Munchkinlanders being short and stout, the Thropps, through selective breeding, were all taller and slender, resembling the Gillikinese.
