  • The Command Staff of a ship/station is usually made up of the Commanding Officer (CO), the Executive Officer (XO), and the Second Officer (2O). This team holds the highest authority on the ship/station within the bounds of Starfleet and Federation Laws.
  • In military terms, the command staff would be comprised of 3 people- the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, and the Chief of the Boat. These people are obviously the ones responsible for the day-to-day commands made on board a starship or starbase. Every other senior officer, including that of second officer and third officer, are considered senior staff positions and are therefore rarely involved in the overall daily command decisions.
