Dr William Brewer (c.1825 - 3 November 1881) was a surgeon and politician. The son of J S Brewer of Eaton, Norfolk, he was educated in Scotland, gaining his medical degree at the University of St Andrews, and was Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 1872 he was elected a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London. Active in the Liberal Party, Brewer sought election to the House of Commons in February 1867 at Colchester. He failed to be elected. A member of the Metropolitan Board of Works for St George Hanover Square Vestry 1870*3 and 1878-81
