He played junior hockey for the Montreal Junior Canadiens of the Quebec Junior Hockey League in 1943-44, leading the league in goals with 21 (in just 15 games). The Montreal Junior Royals picked him up for their Memorial Cup playoff run. Plamondon then played in the Quebec Senior Hockey League for five seasons while seeing some part-time action with the Montreal Canadiens. He was a good scorer in the minors but was unable to translate that into NHL goals. He won the Allan Cup with the Montreal Royals in 1947.
