Biography
| - Jimmy Vaughn is a former NASCAR driver from Greenville, SC. He competed in eight Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning one top-ten.
Vaughn's debut came in 1965, when he competed at Myrtle Beach. Starting 19th in the field of twenty-two, Vaughan only lasted eight laps before overheating issues doomed him to 21st. It was just part of a tough season, as various mechanical issues took Vaughan out of every one of his four races, although he still managed to finish in the top-twenty in each of race following Myrtle Beach. He was 12th at Shelby, 15th at Spartanburg, and then 19th at Columbia.
Vaughn's best race, however, came in a one-race deal during the 1969 season. Starting 23rd in the inaugural race at Talladega, Vaughn took advantage of a massive boycott by the top drivers to power his way towards the front, completing most of the laps in route to a career-best 7th place finish.
Vaughn's final three races were to come during the 1971 season, when he started off at Ona. It was the beginning of another streak of DNFs, as Vaughn failed to finish any of his three starts that year. But still, Vaughn was stout in those races, finishing 19th at Ona and then 18th at Columbia, and 23rd at North Wilkesboro.
