- "Force-dead" was a term used predominantly by the members of the Jedi Order to describe phenomenal individuals that exhibited no presence in the Force. The term saw widespread use with the New Jedi Order during the Yuuzhan Vong War, due to the Yuuzhan Vong's absence of being sensed through the Force. In the eras of the Old Jedi Order, the state of being "Force-dead" was sometimes―but not always―manifested in the rare individuals, notably Jedi Knights, that were unwillingly severed from the Force.

In the eras of the Old Jedi Order, the state of being "Force-dead" was sometimes―but not always―manifested in the rare individuals, notably Jedi Knights, that were unwillingly severed from the Force. The term briefly came into widespread use again with the invasion by the Charon Dominion during the Extant War, although was eventually used synonymously, and later replaced, with the term "Voidborn". However, such practices were considered ignorant, if not simply inaccurate; while all Voidborn were Force-dead, not all Force-dead individuals were Voidborn.
