| - In 1889, Solomon Grundy lived with his wife and newborn son in Slaughter Swamp. They were overworked at the Henry Slaughterhouse by Mr. Henry, who seemed to get fatter while his employees starved. To comfort his starving child, Solomon would repeat the rhyme Solomon Grundy. One day, his wife Pinney, who also worked at the slaughterhouse, was sexually assaulted by Mr. Henry, and outraged and ashamed, she had stormed off, only to return later with a knife. She stood at the edge of the offal chute, and, after whispering an apology to her husband, thrust the knife into her own throat. Rather than express any sympathy, Mr. Henry had ordered Solomon to retrieve his wife's body before the alligators ate it. As he did so, Solomon was suddenly overcome by rage, and when he returned to the killing floor, he took his own knife, and gutted everyone in the slaughterhouse. Finally, he knelt down in the same spot his wife had killed herself, and thrust the knife into his chest, slumping and sliding down the chute into the swamp. As his now orphaned son cried out, something happened to Solomon. Now, many years later, Solomon Grundy returns to Earth in a ball of flame, able to drain all that lives of its life force through the power of The Grey. Travelling through the desert to the larger, more populated cities, he kills and destroys, seeking the Green Man. The military attempts to stop him, using a missile to blow him to pieces, but it isn't long before his body reconstitutes itself, once again. Solomon Grundy is always born again on Monday.
