He was the father of Hokanu but because of the edict on magician whereby they must foreswear their familial ties he could not acknowledge him as his son and gave him to his brother, Kamatsu of the Shinzawai. He came into his power later in life. It was at a banquet on the Shinzawai estates during the Riftwar that Fumita discovered Pug's magical ability and took him to the Assembly for testing and training. Years later when Mara of the Acoma brought the Great One's back inside the law magicians where allowed to acknowledge their familial ties once more and Fumita was able to call Hokanu his son once more.
