Tokugawa Ieyasu (31 January 1543 – 1 June 1616) was one of three unifiers of Japan, alongside Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Oda Nobunaga. After Hideyoshi's death, he founded the powerful Tokugawa Shogunate, which ruled peacefully for more than two hundred years.
