As with most that grow up in the CSA, he was motivated by a desire to be successful and well off. But found that his natural talents were not so much in the managing of business affairs, but more to hands on approach to things. He was very naturally inclined to be secretive and subtle. This led him to a career path in the OOAG. His time in the Office of the Auditor General was very eclectic; he operated in a special section that was focused on investigating exotic issues. The operation required him to immerse himself in the underworld society, making him well versed in Syndicate affairs. This would also be his first brush with the force. The operation was terminated when the Adept nearly found him out and the two fought. Malif lost and it was a defeat he would never forget. Malif learned a lot while with the Syndicate and used those skills to broker a new life for himself. Affairs in the CSA had blossomed into a political grenade and he resigned his commission within the OOAG. So it was that he went from legal agent to COO of Blastech, he used that position to support and build a very successful Black-market arms concern. He dealt amid the Syndicates and private powers. Even gaining a welcome presence among smugglers and pirates, his reputation for finding hard to get items were well known and hard earned. Eventually he managed a position with the legal Division of the Sector Authority and used that position to forge legitimate operations through most all of the galactic governments. As a side line he used his OOAG talents as a freelance intelligence operative and became a mildly successful information broker. There was one reoccurring theme through this chain of professions and travels; he indeed kept encountering Force users. Jedi and Sith alike, His encounters with the Jedi were never wholly successful events and often left a bad taste in his mouth. But on the other side of the coin all of his dealings with Sith were profitable and fair. So it would be an invitation by Darth Malign to join the Sith’s private syndicate that would finally halt the progression from incarnation to incarnation of careers. Malign had used his services on and off for a long time and saw the value in the skills Malif possessed. So finally or perhaps for now Malif is an Admiral amid Darth Malign’s paramilitary syndicate.
