Korvac, originally an anthropologist from the planet Hala, had a natural affinity for order as displayed by his meticulous reconstructions of ancient ruins. It was at one of these reconstructions that a wounded Nova, Prohl Gosgotha, crash landed. He gave his power who barely defeated the Nova's pursuer, a Skrull, at the cost of the very ruins he had restored. When Gosgotha requested his Nova force back after the battle so that it might keep him alive, Korvac instead allowed him to die and took his place. Irani Rael, unaware of his actions, allowed Korvac to become the Nova for Region 167.
