Tiger Games secured the rights to remake Resident Evil 2 in 1998. This originally appeared as a title for their Game.Com console. When the console failed to sell to a wide audience, Tiger returned to its traditional development style by making handheld games which were their own consoles. The 99X series of these handhelds released a new version of Resident Evil 2.
