Derislat was an urbanized planet in the Mid Rim. Infrastructure on the planet consisted of mile high skyscrapers and multi-mile deep underground cities. Originally the landscape consisted of lush forests and blue shallow seas. The durasteel idea appeared to be working, holding the planet together, though thousands afraid that a break was still imminent emigrated to the eastern hemisphere so as to not lose their connection to the Complex.

abstract
  • Derislat was an urbanized planet in the Mid Rim. Infrastructure on the planet consisted of mile high skyscrapers and multi-mile deep underground cities. Originally the landscape consisted of lush forests and blue shallow seas. The eastern hemisphere was dominated by a large red structure called the Complex that served as the governing headquarters, as well as the financial, manufacturing, and societal center. Those that did well on Derislat were sent there to serve the planet the best way they could. Each year, one hundred people in the Complex would be granted access to Derislat's private spaceport, able to leave the planet for any location in the galaxy. The remainder of the planet was primarly residential, commercial, and entertainment sectors, each self-sustaining regions that grew more independent of the Complex, but still relied on its products and services. Around 45 ABY, scientists discovered that Derislat's growth had led to a major fault that ran the length of its western hemisphere, on the verge of splitting the planet in two. Measures were taken to reinforce the faultline with connecting segments of durasteel on either side in hope of at least slowing down the separation of Derislat. More ambitious ideas were later brought up at a meeting of the Derislat Citizens Board, including melting the planet back together like glue, or even using gravity field generators to reverse the effects of separation. The durasteel idea appeared to be working, holding the planet together, though thousands afraid that a break was still imminent emigrated to the eastern hemisphere so as to not lose their connection to the Complex.
