Pokémon Stadium is a video game for the Nintendo 64 released in 1999. This game was developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo. While it is the first game in the series for most people, it is in fact the second game in the series, and is the sequel to a Japan-only game entitled Pocket Monsters Stadium. Because of this, Pokémon Stadium is known as Pocket Monsters Stadium 2 in Japan.

Features include four tournaments with set rules, a Gym Leader Castle, Professor Oak's lab where you can check your Pokédex on the big screen and trade Pokémon, and you can have a special battle with Mewtwo.

En esta secuela, además de poder importar los equipos Pokémon desde los cartuchos de Rojo, Azul y Amarillo, también se pueden importar desde Pokémon Oro, Plata y Cristal.
  • Pokémon Stadium es el primer videojuego (segundo en Japón) de Pokémon para Nintendo 64 basado en batallas 1 vs. 1. El objetivo son combates con entrenadores y Pokémon de diferentes niveles, con la diferencia de que tanto los Pokémon como los entornos (casi siempre gimnasios o estadios) son en 3D. En este juego los Pokémon no evolucionan ni suben de nivel. Asimismo existe un amplio catálogo de Pokémon "de alquiler" en caso de no disponer de Transfer Pak o partida alguna de Game Boy. De hecho, se pueden mezclar Pokémon alquilados con Pokémon transferidos.
