Catherine “Cate” Anne Archer was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1942. Her family fell into financial trouble and Cate's father committed suicide. Cate was placed in an orphanage, but eventually escaped onto the streets and into a life of crime as an infamous cat-burglar, referred to as "The Fox". When Cate was a little girl and her father was still alive, the two went on a hunt in the woods. The fox escaped the two and Cate, admiring the cunning of the fox, took on "The Fox" as her personal symbol. Cate continued this 'trade' for a number of years until she happened to pick the pocket of Bruno Lawrie (a UNITY field agent).
