The Victorian Airborne Forces were a fast response commando unit of the Victorian Independent Army. Formed in 2539 in response to a growing number of pro-UNSC incursions onto the Independent State's territory, the Airborne Forces were culled from commandos who had taken part in operations on Victoria during the years prior to the formation of the Independent State. As a result, after a brief training period of seven months, the unit began combat missions in 2540. The members of the unit soon became infamous among pro-UNSC partisans for the speed of their attacks, leaving little time to react before they had done their damage and were gone.

As a result, after a brief training period of seven months, the unit began combat missions in 2540. The members of the unit soon became infamous among pro-UNSC partisans for the speed of their attacks, leaving little time to react before they had done their damage and were gone. While the Airborne Forces sustained some casualties in combat, they were nearly completely wiped out in 2553 during Operation: TRIUMPH, during which they were dropped behind enemy lines with the intent of tying up pro-UNSC forces. However, the opposing forces were far better equipped than in previous encounters, leading to only one platoon surviving the battle. During the Battle of Agley, the Airborne Forces who had survived TRIUMPH or those who were in training at the time were pressed into service as frontline infantry in various units. With the end of the Independent State, the Airborne Forces also came to an end.
