The Red Deer Lake Fire Protection team served an area southeast of Sudbury between Wahnapithae and Wanup along Highway 537. This area was unorganized, meaning that there was no municipal government. It was formed sometime around 1994, with equipment provided/funded by the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal and local fundraising. In 2001, the area was incorporated as part of the new City of Greater Sudbury and the team became part of Greater Sudbury Fire Services.
