The entire estate was demolished in the mid-late 1990s as part of a wider regeneration of the Heartlands area in Birmingham. This involved the complete demolition of the nearby Rupert Street Estate and the refurbishment of the Duddeston Manor Estate and Cromwell Street Estate. The Nechells Green / Duddeston complex had 27 tower blocks and formed part of the traditional Aston District which had 67 tower blocks all together from its various complexes.
