- Tripod is a Dalmatian puppy and Lucky's main rival in the Bark Brigade. He only appears in 101 Dalmatians: The Series. Presumably named for being the only puppy with three legs, Tripod is a very athletic, and hard-working puppy. He is seen to be a bit of a perfectionist, as in "Full Metal Pullet", and frequently contends with Lucky in several episodes.
- Tripod is a minor character in the Wild Cards series of books.
- The Tripod is a large three-legged Necromorph composed of multiple human corpses.
- Being low-class "budget" weapons, they often suffered several malfunctions, such as the scope being slightly off-angle, causing severe aiming difficulties (TV: The Old Enemy).
- I bought a Slik Video Sprint. Weighs under two pounds, folds to eighteen inches, so easy to carry, extends to eye height. Setup is so ultra quick. Ball head (not true fluid-head) with practice can be fairly smooth for pans and tilts. $79. very happy with this. Admittedly this probably isn't the MAIN tripod one should have for your super pro shots (films, etc.); that one should be heavier and more fluid. But let me tell you, you won't even think twice about carrying this when you travel, so it's great for your more casual shooting!
- On firearms, tripods are commonly used on machine guns to provide a forward rest and to reduce motion from recoil. Machine guns are capable of firing long continuous bursts of fire, but at the cost of increased recoil (which decreases accuracy), and increased weight (machine guns are heavier in order to absorb the stresses of prolonged fully automatic fire). The tripod permits the operator to rest the weapon on the ground and thus the gun feels lighter to the shooter and accuracy is increased.
- The "Tripods," as they were dubbed by Luke Skywalker, were a sentient species of three-legged, triocular beings with sac-like bodies. They had long yellow fur around their hips and tentacles, as well as shadings of pink and turquoise. They were indigenous to an Imperial planet in the Outer Rim, on the route from Pzob to Belsavis. A number of them were taken prisoner aboard the Eye of Palpatine, though they were able to resist being brainwashed by Imperial agents.
