Sam was the name of a tired and broken-down horse Victor Radcliff rode out of Hanover in the early days of the Atlantean War of Independence. Sam's relatively poor state helped distract British soldiers from determining Radcliff's true identity. After Radcliff was clear of Hanover, he left Sam with his owners.
