Klytie (Κλυτιη) was an Okeanid whose name means renown and glorious. She and who was in love with the sun god Helios as was he her. Helios however he abandoned her for the love of Leukothoe. When Helios left her, she pined away and was transformed into the sun-gazing, purple flower of the heliotrope. Klytie is often identified with another Okeanid Klymene, who by Helios was the mother of Phaethon and seven daughters. Just as Klytie was transformed so were the daughters of Klymene.
