| - Ethan Brotherton Shelton (10 July 1903 – 19 March 2014) was a verified American supercentenarian. He was the oldest verified man in the United States, however pending case Ernest Peronneau, may have been older and died just a week after Shelton. In 1947, Shelton and his wife Rose started their own business, Shelton Farms, in Berrien Center, Michigan. Shelton also worked as a barber, and eventually owned his own barber shop. Ethan and Rose were married for 69 years, until Rose's death in 1995. Towards the end of his life, Shelton had a very active lifestyle. He enjoyed playing golf, making music with his friends, and tinkering in his garden. Shelton credited his longevity to chewing his food well and eating plenty of vegetables. He died of natural causes on 19 March 2014 after having suffered from pneumonia, at the age of 110 years and 252 days.
