| - Perrin thought he saw a dog’s footprint on stone along the trail. Along with Loial, Moiraine and Lan they are pushing hard trying to catch up to Rand. Loial doesn't even have time to read as they are riding anymore. They are approaching Remen on the Manetherendrelle. He thinks of his dreams, like the one with the wolf and Egwene. They travel through towns, seeing different events that happened in Rand’s wake. They also found Rand’s horse, dead, by the side of the road. Moiraine says all these things are part of the pattern which is neither good nor evil. They enter Remen and Perrin smells something vile, not a twisted one or Neverborn though. Then he berates himself for using the wolf terms for Trolloc and Myrddraal. But he can't figure out what it was he smelled. In the town square an Aielman is hanging in a cage while children throw stones at him. They enter Wayland's Forge, the inn where they will stay. Gainor Furlan is the innkeeper and talks about recent events in town. There are hunters for the Horn of Valere and they are the ones that captured the Aielman. Perrin remembers that Min said an Aielman in a cage will be a turning point in his life. Lord Orban begins telling the story, with much embellishment, of how he managed to capture the Aielman. Orban mentions Whitecloaks, which alarms Perrin since they may be looking for him. Perrin feels a set of eyes on him and looks around. He notices a young woman, about his age but she turns away just as he looks at her.
