In 1956 the car was a relatively standard 1932 Ford Coupe until it was bought 16-year old Clarence "Chilli" Catallo for $75. Over the next couple of years he customised it, turning it into a hot rod and part-time drag racer. In the late '50s he changed his mind and it becxame a "classic custom show rod".

| - In 1956 the car was a relatively standard 1932 Ford Coupe until it was bought 16-year old Clarence "Chilli" Catallo for $75. Over the next couple of years he customised it, turning it into a hot rod and part-time drag racer. In the late '50s he changed his mind and it becxame a "classic custom show rod". One day Chilli decided to take his car to the Alexander brothers' shop in Detroit and later the Barris brothers' shop in Lynwood. When it came out the car was wearing a Zed frame, a chromed '37 Ford front end, a channeled body and sectioned doors, custom-rolled rear sheet metal with tube bumpers and lights and a flip-forward, quad-headlighted custom nose. It sported a Cadillac Mediterranean Blue paint job with white scallops. Power came courtesy of a 1956 344-cubic-inch Oldsmobile V8 with an Offy Log manifold and six Stromberg carburettors, and transmission from a 1937 LaSalle.
