Although the Talman guitars were assembled in Japan by FujiGen, they were the first Ibanez guitars to feature Korean hardware, with pickguard assemblies pre-wired in Korea and dropped into bodies in Japan. The other notable feature of the first Talman models was the "Resoncast" body, which was basically just a marketing term for medium-density fiberboard. This design decision also helped keep costs down. The White finish model lacks the gravure quilted top. The TV650 was discontinued after 1995.

abstract
  • Although the Talman guitars were assembled in Japan by FujiGen, they were the first Ibanez guitars to feature Korean hardware, with pickguard assemblies pre-wired in Korea and dropped into bodies in Japan. The other notable feature of the first Talman models was the "Resoncast" body, which was basically just a marketing term for medium-density fiberboard. This design decision also helped keep costs down. The TV650's resoncast body has a gravure quilted maple top and is bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include a floating synchronized tremolo bridge and dual Sky humbucking pickups flanking a Sky lipstick-style single coil mounted over a sound cavity on a white pickguard. The White finish model lacks the gravure quilted top. The TV550 is a similar model without the decorative top and with a pearloid pickguard. The gravure-topped model was known as the TV750 in the US. The TV650 was discontinued after 1995.
