He apparently suffers from narcolepsy, as he is always falling asleep on the job. The relationship Rem has with the Town Minish is reminiscent of the story The Elves and the Shoemaker, where a shoemaker is helped by elves at night while he is asleep.

The Shinigami Gelus, who had fallen in love with Misa, sacrificed himself to kill her destined murderer. In doing so he was reduced to dust, leaving only his Death Note. Rem delivered this Death Note to Misa, since it was her life he saved.

- He first encounters the team whilst attempting to escape Colonel Mullen near Dom Ruins, from here Justin, Sue and Feena take him back to Feena's house to heal him. Here it is discovered that he is very sick and Justin, Feena and Sue all travel to the top of Herb Mountains by Feena's house to find a red Sulfa weed which can heal him. Rem takes them to Luc Villiage, the home of the Misty Forest humanoids. Rem does not stay with Justin, Feena and Sue - he returns to his home and plays little part in the storyline after this point.

- REMs (Reinforceing [sic] Enigmatic Matrix) are Schwarz-modified versions of GEMs. The only one known to exist is used by Midori. It resembled a large green lens worn on the back of a glove granting its user strength near that of a Robed Otome, via nanomachines, before breaking down after a short time. Youko modified it to last indefinitely until depowered. This is proven by the infinity symbol which is an inverted number 8 when Midori activated her powers.
