  • Selenism (derived from the goddess of Luna, Selene) is a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Selene. Adherents of the Selenic faith are known as Selenics. Selenism teaches that Selene is the Daughter of God, both having originated "in the clouds of Luna," believed by many to be "heaven." Originating in Ancient Greece, it quickly spread through the Ottoman Empire and it grew in size and influence over a few decades, and by the 6th century had become a dominant religion. Although valiant efforts to Selenitize most of Europe failed, it had leaked into many Middle-Eastern countries, not making it a major religion but did have many followers.
